Bio: I am a language and history teacher from the west of Ireland. Opinions on current affairs and education policy development are informed by the realities of my profession. Anything I write here is done so in my personal capacity and is entirely my own opinion! I have chosen to remain incognito for the simple fact that I am a currently employed as a teacher and  as I often write from personal experience, I do not want to cause controversy or unintentionally hurt others. That is not to say that my position will not change in the future. If you wish to contact me personally, I would love to hear from you at irishgermanteacher@yahoo.com

  1. Hello Miss De Búrca,
I enjoy your posts very much and am thinking that it’d be nice to meet/ Skype you in real life, given that we seem to be working through the same issues on our blogs. I share your view on the importance of faith formation even though I haven’t written about it yet.
I’m a fairly young male teacher (nearly qualified). Is there any way I could DM you? Maybe you could follow me on Twitter? @antimire

  2. You say a lot of commonsense things about children and everyday education, based on your teaching grind at the chalkface. Your observations on other national issues go against the media mainstream. Now might be the time to start expanding your thoughts into a book. A subsequent appeal for crowdfunding to defray printing expenses could draw an appreciative response.
